Mrs. Lanie was the sweetest soul. I remember being young and completely ruining the usual peace and quiet in her and Mr. Randy’s home. Between guitar hero, picking on each other (very loudly), and my never ending fear of Ian’s pet iguana that I constantly screamed in fear over, most would’ve kicked all the kids out. Not Mrs. Lanie. As far as she was concerned, all that was important was that we all had fun. She was someone who brought a feeling of peace when you were around her. I’ll forever be thankful for the opportunity to have known her. She fought long and hard, and I know God smiled at the sight of her coming home. To Mr. Randy, Blake, and Bryan I’m so incredibly sorry for your loss. I’ll be praying extra hard as you all begin to navigate life without her in it. She’s watching over until you all meet again.

We both worked with Lanie at Carter's. She was a very nice lady and loved her family. May God wrap his loving arms around the family during this difficult time.

I had the privilege of first meeting Lanie when my family moved to Barnesville in 1964 and joined the Methodist Church where many of her family and extended family members were active. My more recent memories of Lanie consist of serving on the Lamar Gives 365 Communications Committee with her and playing handbells in the Chancel Bell Choir where I had the privilege of playing the bells right next to hers. Lanie was always kind and strived hard to make anything and everything that she participated in the best that it could be.

I grew up with Lanie and remember her as always being a helper. That didn’t change when she became an adult.
I don’t live in Barnesville anymore and haven’t for over 40 years. Whenever I’d call FUMC and Lanie answered the phone we’d get a chance to visit. She was always very helpful. If she couldn’t answer my question she’d find the answer and call me back. I’ll miss her cheerful and giving spirit. The world is a little darker without her presence.
Love, hugs, and prayers to her family and friends.

Lanie was my Mom’s childhood bestie. I loved when they would tell me stories about growing up together. Later in life, they battled cancer together.
Lanie will be dearly missed on this Earth. She was so loving and so sweet!
Thoughts and prayers for Lanie’s family during this difficult time.
