Obituary of Beverly Ledford Yantis
Beverly Jane (Ledford) Yantis died Sunday, July 24, 2016, at age 81 at Spalding Regional Hospital in Griffin, GA surrounded by loving family and friends. Jane was born in Gainesville, GA to the late Ervin F. Ledford and Helen S. Ledford on September 23, 1934.
Jane attended Waycross High School and transferred to Valdosta High School before graduating in Social Services from Valdosta State College. She cherished her time spent with family and friends over many years at Swan Lake in Gainesville, FL. Since moving to Barnesville, GA in 1983, Jane was the longtime owner of The Hope Chest in downtown Barnesville and was active in the local Habitat for Humanity, the Barnesville-Lamar County Humane Society, the Optimist Club and Barnesville First United Methodist Church.
Family, friends and her community were Jane’s passion. Ms. Jane was gracious when you needed a favor, persistent when you needed a scolding, funny when you needed a laugh and caring when you needed a friend.
Jane was predeceased by her husband of 25 years, Andrew C. Yantis. She is survived by her son Drew Yantis and his wife Pam, Powder Springs, GA., and daughter, Hope Yantis, Barnesville, GA. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Meredith Yantis, Annalyn Yantis, Andrew Yantis and Ansley Yantis as well as a number of other family members and close friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home in Barnesville. A service celebrating her life will be held the following day on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Barnesville First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to Barnesville First United Methodist Church or Jabbok Ministries.
