Obituary of Smith Bankston

Mr. John “Smith” Bankston, Jr., age 91, of Barnesville, GA passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in a Bibb County Healthcare facility. He was the son of the late Mr. John Smith Bankston, Sr. and the late Mrs. Vesta Mae Butler Bankston. Mr. Bankston was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Eugenia Stocks Bankston, and his Granddaughter, Brandi Michelle Bryan. Mr. Bankston retired after 35 years from The William Carter Company, where he worked as a Jet and Die Operator. Mr. Bankston was a member of Fredonia Congregational Methodist Church, where he was the oldest active member. Survivors include: Wife – Evelyn Smith English Bankston of Barnesville, Ga.; Daughters – Louise Wilson (& Kerry), and Betty Bryan (& Claude) of Milner, Ga.; Sister – Sarah Manry of Barnesville, Ga.; Grandchildren – Karla (& Robert) Hernandez of Thomaston, Ga., Brad (& Claudia) Bryan of Barnesville, Ga., Kyle (& Sara) Wilson of Milner, Ga. and Lori Bryan of Milner, Ga. ; Great Grandchildren - Wil Hernandez, John Hernandez, Kale Bryan, Kaney Bryan, Scarlett Bryan, Smith Bryan, Kaden Wilson and Kiley Wilson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. John Smith Bankston, Jr. will be conducted on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 2 O’clock in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, with the Reverend Stan Ayer officiating. Interment will follow in Lamar Memory Gardens.
