Obituary of Howard S. Jones

Mr. Howard S. Jones, age 66, of Griffin passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the Spalding Regional Hospital. Mr. Jones was born on September 23, 1948 in Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by his Father, Harold Jones, his Mother, Allene Howington, and by a Sister. Mr. Jones was a veteran of the United States Army and also served in the National Guard as a MP. Mr. Jones served as a Law Enforcement Officer for a total of 36 years. He was retired from the Clayton County Sherriff’s office. Mr. Jones worked at oter Law Enforcement agencies including, the Lamar County Sherriff’s office, and was actively employed with the Spalding County Sherriff’s office. He was member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans at John Gordon Camp. Survivors include his wife of 23 years Laura Jones ; a Daughter – Julie Massengale and husband ; 3 Sons – Butch Jones and wife, Mike Bailey and wife, and Raymond Comstock and wife ; Mr. Jones is also survived by 9 siblings and 10 grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mr. Howard S. Jones will be conducted Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 2 O' Clock in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The Family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 7pm until 9pm.
