Obituary of Onis Dawson

Mrs. Onis Wayne Corley Dawson, age 69, of Barnesville passed away Thursday, September 10, 2009 in an Upson County Healthcare Facility. Mrs. Dawson was a lifelong resident of Lamar County. Daughter of the late Mr. James Onis Corley and the late Mrs. Bessie Mae Ross Corley, she was also preceded in death by a son, Ricci Salter, and by her sister, Mrs. Dorothy Torbert. Mrs. Dawson was a member of the New Life Baptist Church. She was formerly employed by the Pastime Grill, where she was affectionately known as “The Biscuit Lady”. Mrs. Dawson touched many lives with her music, having played in many churches in the area. Survivors include: Her husband of 41 years - Mr. Earl Dawson of Barnesville ; Her Son - Jeff Corley (& his wife, Amanda) ; Her Daughter - Lisa Harmon (& her husband, Todd) ; Her Brother - Merril Corley (& his wife, Millie) ; Her Brother-in-law - Rev. Herbert Torbert, Jr. ; Grandchildren - Aston Duncan (& Bobby), Jordan Harmon, Marlena Harmon, Ross Dawson, & Christopher Salter ; A Number of Nieces, Nephews, & Other Relatives also survive. Funeral Services for Mrs. Onis Wayne Dawson will be conducted Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 2 O’Clock in the New Life Baptist Church with Reverend Franklin Gibson and Reverend Herbert Torbert, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 5pm until 8pm.
