Obituary of Billy Sykes

Mr. Billy Joe Sykes, age 90, of Milner, passed away Monday, September 23, 2013 in a Spalding County healthcare facility. He was born September 19, 1923 in Pell City, Alabama to the late Mr. George Leroy Sykes and Mrs. Nellie Mize (Sykes). Mr. Sykes is also preceded in death by his son, Billy Wayne Sykes, and by a brother, Sam Sykes. Mr. Sykes retired from the State of Georgia Department of Transportation as a Surveyor, and was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. Survivors include: Wife - Edith Sykes of Milner ; A Daughter - Debi (& Bob) Zellner of Culloden ; Step-Children - Priscilla Conger of Spanaway, WA, Carol McDaniel of Norcross, Lynn Wilson (& Randy) of Cataula, and Janet Stackhouse of Mirara Beach, FL ; and Numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mr. Billy Sykes will be conducted from the Graveside on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 4 O’Clock in Lamar Memory Gardens with Reverend Franklin Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 from 2:30pm until 3:30pm.
