Obituary of Sauney Roy Pippin
Mr. Sauney Roy Pippin, age 78, of The Redbone Community, Barnesville, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Pine Pointe Hospice.
Sauney was born on Thursday, August 30, 1945, in Orlando, Florida, to the late Denard Gaston and the late Verlie Christine Brown Pippin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Winifred Pippin Calloway, as well as three brothers-in-law, Steve Andrews, Gary Sales, Paul Calloway.
Sauney was an avid farmer. He and his brother received several awards for their farming. He was a lifelong member of Ramah Primitive Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon. Sauney served in the United States Air Force where he met his wife of 55 years, Geraldine. Everyone knew Sauney by the smile on his face and he was loved by all. He was a member of Southern Rivers Energy, Farm Bureau, AG South, and FSA, where he served as a board member. With his time with the boy scouts, he was awarded the Eagle Award for his leadership. Sauney will be greatly missed and forever respected by the people of Lamar County.
Sauney is survived by his wife of 55 years, Geraldine Sales Pippin; children, Kevin Roy Pippin, Charlene Pippin McPherson (Fiancé Jiri Smejkal); grandchildren, Peyton Ashlyn McPherson (Fiancé Nathan Larsen), Autumn Cheyenne McPherson; sister, Hope Pippin Andrews; brother, Jackson Pippin (Jackie); sister-in-law, Judy Sales; several cousins, as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Sauney Roy Pippin will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church with Pastor Pat McCoy and Pastor Kurt Bacon officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 P.M. until the service hour at the church. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. George’s Episcopal School Athletic Department or Ramah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
The family encourages those who attend wear bright colors as this day is a day of celebration for Sauney.
