Obituary of Kent Jerome Young
Mr. Kent Jerome Young, age 60, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.
Kent was born on Tuesday, January 30, 1962, in Athens, Tennessee to the late Lowell Blaine Young and the late Janice Arlene Newman Young. Kent was an avid outdoorsman who loved the mountains, hunting, fishing, shooting sports and his yearly hunting trip out west with friends. He graduated from Fayette County High School in 1980 and attended Atlanta Area Tech where he graduated with a degree in aviation mechanics. He retired from Delta Airlines.
Kent is survived by his sister Sonya Dyer and husband Mack of Milner, Barbara Ann (Chris) Matthews of Fayetteville, nieces and nephews that he dearly loved and was so proud of, Dean Matthews (Melissa) of Sharpsburg, Nikki Matthews of Fayetteville, Mackenzie Belle Dyer of Hiram, and Noah Elvin Cas Dyer of Milner, and great-nephew, Shane Matthews, aunts and uncles, Azalee Moore of Alcoa, Tennessee, Corbin Young (Vanda) of Athens, Tennessee, Jack Newman (Norma Ann) and Hilda Young Pearson, both of Tellico Plains, Tennessee, as well as special cousins and friends.
Memorial Service to be held Sunday, January 15, 2023, at 3:00 P.M. at Williams-Westbury Funeral Home with Reverend Jason Teal officiating of First Baptist Church of Barnesville and Kent’s lifelong best friend Tim Smith will be giving eulogy.
In remembrance of Kent, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to Wellstar Paulding Hospital’s - Child Life Services Program. Kent was very proud of his niece, Mackenzie Dyer who is a Child Life Specialist at the hospital.
