Obituary of Larry Eugene Hamby Sr.

Mr. Larry Eugene Hamby, Sr., age 84, of Barnesville, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at his home.

Larry was born on Thursday, December 30, 1937, in Barnesville, Georgia, to the late Leonard Hamby Sr. and Pauline Moreland Hamby. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, of 55 years, Faye Hamby, parents; Leonard and Pauline Hamby, brother; Leon Hamby, Jr., sisters; Doris Conkle and Martha Hoffman. Larry proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Larry served in Korea, and then completed three tours in Vietnam, receiving several commendations. Larry’s favorite hobbies were raising horses and restoring old cars. He enjoyed going to the mountains with his beloved wife Faye. Larry was a family man who loved taking care of his family.

Larry is survived by his children and their spouses; Kristin Hamby Irvin and Gregg, Sonny Hamby, Susan Estes and Charlie, Janet Richardson Jones and Wayne, Julie Richardson Rogers, Thomas Richardson and Matilda, sister; Toni Awtry, brother and sister-in-law; Pete Hamby and Cathy, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Graveside service for Mr. Hamby will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at 3:30 P.M. at Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Jason Teal officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, November 6, 2022, from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
