Obituary of Norris Leon Blalock

Mr. Norris Leon Blalock, age 84, of Barnesville, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord, on June 6, 2022, at Atlanta Medical Center. Leon was born on Friday, June 11, 1937, in Spalding County to the late T.J. Blalock & the late Ida Belle Faulkner Blalock. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his two sisters, Eloise Dorsey & Ethel Garrison. He graduated from Gordon High School and Gordon College after two years. Leon was known as Poppy by his 13 grandchildren and his many great-grandchildren. He built all his children’s homes. He was always giving them bubble gum and tic tacs. Leon proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of Rock Springs Church for 60 years; he was also a member of choir for many years and served on the board of stewards. Leon was kind, generous and most never knew how much he gave. He was always taking care of other people. He was a lover of cars, he enjoyed buying, selling, and repairing them as well. His Volkswagen Thing was a 30 -year project that unfortunately he never got to complete. Leon is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Jane Blalock; children and their spouses, Wade & Becky Blalock, Pam & Erwin Bryan, Lisa & Tom Dziedzic, Neil & Angelia Blalock. A funeral service for Mr. Norris Leon Blalock will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at Rock Springs Church with Dr. Benny Tate officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the church. Interment will follow the service in Rock Springs Church cemetery.
