Obituary of Kelly Runyan

Rev. Kelly Runyan, age 85, of Barnesville, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Heritage Inn. He was born August 27, 1930 in Dalton, Georgia, son of the late Oscar Carlton and Robbie Gentry Runyan. Rev. Runyan attended Brewton-Parker College and graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. He served 45 years as Pastor to several churches including the Second Baptist Church, Pineview Baptist Church, and Jamestown Baptist Church in Waycross, GA and Maynard Baptist Church in Forsyth, GA. After retirement Rev. Runyan became a member of the First Baptist Church in Barnesville and worked for Habitat for Humanity. He was devoted to his family and church, and loved singing, fishing, traveling and helping others. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Sibyl Dumas Runyan of Barnesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Richard Lee of Waycross, Deanna and Ronald Jacobs of Hoboken, Arlene and Danny Howard of Waycross and Kelly Ann and Frank Davis of Arkansas; ten grandchildren, Ashley Jacobs, Hannah Lovas, Emily McKinnon and her husband Noah, Heather Bruner and her husband Jamie, Amy Krawczeski and her husband Andrew, Matt Lee and his wife Brooke, Jared Howard, Lindsay Howard, Austin Davis, and Drew Davis; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, one great-grandson, two sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 Saturday at First Baptist Church in Barnesville with Rev. Garth Forster officiating. The family will be at their home and receive friends at the church from 1:30 until 3:00 Saturday before the service. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 Sunday in the Oakland Cemetery in Waycross, GA with Dr. Freddie Smith officiating. The family respectfully requests that flowers be omitted and contributions be made in memory of Rev. Kelly Runyan to First Baptist Church, 200 Zebulon St., Barnesville, GA 30204.
