Obituary of Leon Manry
Mr. Leon Jefferson Manry, age 85, of Barnesville passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010 in an Upson County Healthcare Facility. Mr. Manry was a life long resident of Lamar County. He was the son of the late Mr. Roy Rufus Manry and the late Mrs. Lilly Mae Fleming Manry. Mr. Manry was a graduate of Draughton Business College in Savannah. He was a retired Sale Manager for Allied Van Lines. During retirement he was a salesman for Barnesville Marble and Granite. Mr. Manry was a Veteran of the United States Navy having served on the USS Winslow in the North Atlantic during WWII. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Barnesville and an active member of the Methodist Men’s Club.
Survivors include: His wife - Sarah Manry of Barnesville ; a daughter - Teresa Manry (& Martin Lewis) Ball of Decatur; 2 Sons - Jeffery D. (& LuAnne Snell) Manry of Snellville, Benjamin W. Manry of Waleska; a Step Son - Thomas W. Lewis of Barnesville; 2 Sisters - Myrtle M. Matthews of Griffin, Rebecca Dukes of Griffin; 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services for Mr. Leon Manry will be conducted Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 2 O’Clock in the First United Methodist Church of Barnesville. Interment will follow in the Liberty Hill Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Monday evening, November 15, 2010 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
