Obituary of Benjamin Collins
Mr. Benjamin "Keith" Collins, age 62, of Americus passed away in April of 2017 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Born on March 5, 1955, Mr. Collins was the son of the late Bennie A. Collins and Jeanelle Keadle Collins. He was a graduate of Georgia Southwestern University with a degree in Business Management and a Major in Marketing. He also graduated from the Southeastern School of Real Estate. He attended Gordon Military H.S. & Jr. College and graduated from Americus High School in 1973. He worked for Century 21 Real Estate in Americus, GA and then Coldwell Banker in Atlanta, GA. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Barnesville, GA from the cradle roll until 1972 when his parents moved to Americus, GA. He worked in his parents shoe store, Jarell's Shoes, at the bottom of the Windsor Hotel while finishing High School & part time while in College.
Mr. Collins enjoyed fishing, walking, running, and swimming. He also enjoyed making people laugh with his wonderful sense of humor. He loved spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his sisters- Pamela Collins-Wooten of Americus, Janis Collins Freeman of Los Angeles, CA, and Melba Collins Medler of Cape Girardeau, MO; 1 niece- Paige Freeman of San Francisco, CA; 2 nephews- Ronald "Westley" Medler of Cape Girardeau, MO and Kevin Winston Medler of Auburn, AL.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is being held at the First Baptist Church in Barnesville, GA at 3 p.m., on Saturday, May 6, 2017 with the Reverend Keith Parks of the First Baptist Church of Americus officiating.
