Obituary of Barbara Carreker

Mrs. Barbara “Bobbie” English Carreker, age 85, of Barnesville, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 in a Spalding County Healthcare Facility. A native and lifelong resident of Barnesville, Mrs. Carreker was the daughter of the late Mr. Cullen Bryant English and the late Mrs. Mary Cato English. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Homer Beeks Carreker, and by two sisters, Virginia Wimberly of Barnesville and Betty Lee of Tucker. Mrs. Carreker had been a Telephone Switchboard Operator for Southern Bell, owner of a service station and trailer park, and finally a Home Maker. Mrs. Carreker was a member of the Barnesville First Baptist Church, and the Mary Sunday School Class. Mrs. Carreker is survived by her children: Mrs. Cullen (& Larry) Barnes of Barnesville, Mr. Dicky (& Carla) Carreker of Barnesville, and Mrs. Judy (& Bob) Garrett of Canton ; Grandchildren: Callie English, Chuck Boyt, Shane Carreker, Katie Taylor, Rob Garrett, Jared Wilson, Katie McDaniel, Danny & David Oien ; Great Grandchildren: Cayden & Keely Boyt, Peyton & Abigail Taylor, Everen & Scout Garrett and Dawson Carreker ; and 1 Great Great Grandchild: Denver Carreker. Funeral Services for Mrs. Barbara “Bobbie” Carreker will be conducted Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 11 O’Clock in the Barnesville First Baptist Church with the Reverend Garth Forster officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 6pm until 8pm.
